Enhance Usability to Generate Sales and New Business
Conduct expert review using heuristic evaluation for responsive mobile design
The Challenge
MKS Health Technologies website is built for desktop and responsive web design was not implemented. However, their customers are mobile users.
As the client was unavailable to provide further information about their customers, an expert review was conducted using Heuristic evaluation on an iPhone 7 to help identify key usability issues.
Key Findings
I conducted an Expert Review (Heuristic Evaluation) of MKS Health Technologies website against usability guidelines and principles, using an iPhone 7. I wrote and expert review report highlighting the usability issues found and recommendations for improvement. This report was submitted to my client.

Outcome
My client adopted a number of my recommendations for their mobile site.

Key changes:

Removed the features on the image slider

Reduced font size for mobile device

Incorporated a sticky menu

The search option is available on the menu bar
Conclusion & Retrospect
I was rather pleased and humbled that my client had adopted a few of my recommendations despite that I have never met nor spoken to him as this work came through a third party.

Although it would have been ideal to be able to interview and understand MKS's customer needs, motivations and pain points, stakeholders and customers might not always be available for projects. As a UX Designer, I needed to adapt and work within constraints.
In retrospect, I would have liked to advise the client to apply web analytics tool on their site so that they could measure if their sales have increased.
